Ecologically Friendly... Coco coir is a byproduct of the coconut industry. Coconut husks that use to be burned or trashed are now being turned into one of the worlds finest organic growing mediums.
Use of these products is also saving the diminishing peat bogs that are drying up due to over-consumption of nonrenewable natural resources. Unlike peat, coconut husks are completely renewable and ecologically friendly.
Peat bogs take 10,000 years to form. Peat bogs are valuable wildlife habitats supporting rare and endangered species. Once destroyed they are gone forever. Peat bogs all over the world are under threat.
The coconut husk processing industry also supports the economy and people of Sri Lanka and is helping to rebuild their economy in the wake of the devastating tsunamis of 2004.
